Purple Performance

Purple Performance

Without a doubt this is the largest amount of purple and lavender I have seen anywhere!  It’s The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Sarasota’s bay front.

I have seen credit for this architecture go to Frank Lloyd Wright and you could easily say that it’s a tribute to his work and design philosophy as the architect, William Wesley Peters worked with Mr. Wright for more than a quarter century.

Plus Mr. Wright’s widow, Olgivanna, selected the building’s lavender and purple color scheme. Due to its function and waterfront locale the inspiration for the building was seashells.

This photo was taken from the waterfront looking back at the building.
